Barre Vida at the World Barre Summit

We showed up, we presented, we learned, and most of all we had fun together in the sun!! These five ladies and Joanna represented Barre Vida as a team for the first time at the World Barre Summit in person in October.

From Left to Right: KaCee, Andrea, Katerina, Autumn, and Kenyetta

KaCee

KaCee attended the summit and presented, “Adolescents and Barre,” a virtual session on teaching barre to kids ages 7-18.

What was one great memory from the summit?

KACEE: I got to meet some really amazing people at the summit. I had an awesome roomie!

What is one thing you learned?

KACEE: I learned a lot more about Barre Vida and the methodology behind it by taking class from Jo. I hadn't taken a class from her since my training and it was really interesting and nice to hear some of her reasoning for her methods.

Why did you want to go to the summit?

KACEE: I wanted to go because I had never been before and I thought it would be an enriching experience. It definitely was.

Was it your first time at a conference? As a presenter? If so any reflections?

KACEE: This was my first time as a presenter and it was exciting to say the least. I taught virtually at the summit. One big takeaway I have from the day I presented is to take longer breathes and really solidify my gameplan. I knew I wanted to take them through a full class and leave time for questions, but I wish I would have chosen specific times to hit on key areas instead of "going with the flow". I think my presentation was still very fufilling but it could've been better. I definitely want to take it up a notch next year.

Would you want to participate next year? In what capacity? How?

KACEE: Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes! Even if I am not a presenter, I want to come as a participant. It was such an awesome experience. But, I'd really like to come back as a presenter. My gears were turning on the plane back home.

Katerina

Katerina (aka Kat) was a participant at the World Barre Summit.

What was one great memory from the summit?

KAT: I really enjoyed to connect with Barre Vida people.

What is one thing you learned?

KAT: I learned more of barre history.

Why did you want to go to the summit?

KAT: I wanted to expand my barre knowledge and the summit helped me with that.

Was it your first time at a conference?

KAT: It was my first time at the conference. It was interesting to dive into the barre world, see many barre instructors and have classes with them.

Would you want to participate next year?

KAT: I am not planning to attend the same summit but maybe some other fitness conference.

Marla attended the barre summit virtually last year and this year.

What was one great memory from the summit?

Marla: Joanna’s virtual Workshop,” Suspension Trainer (TRX) and Barre” and Autumn’s virtual class and workshop, 80’s Barre Class and how to create themes for Barre Classes.

Would you want to participate next year? In what capacity? How?

Marla: Yes, probably again virtually.

Autumn attended the submit and presented an 80’s Barre Vida Barre Class.

What was one great memory from the summit?

Autumn: It was really nice to just meet instructors that I haven’t met before! Definitely the most memorable part for me.

What is one thing you learned (doesn’t have to be from a class.

Autumn: I learned that there are many more ways to shimmy than I ever knew.

Why did you want to go to the summit?

Autumn: I wanted to be with people in person since I haven’t been able to during Covid. Also just getting out of the city and being somewhere warm and sunny by the beach had a certain appeal.

Was it your first time at a conference? As a presenter? If so any reflections?

Autumn: This was my first time at a Barre conference and my first time presenting as an instructor at a conference. It was a lot of fun, and I hope that in the future I can present virtual and in -person classes at a summit.

Would you want to participate next year? In what capacity? How?

Autumn: Yes! Would love to teach again.

Anything else?

Autumn: It was great meeting members of the team that I wouldn’t have been able to otherwise. I think the Barre Vida community is really great and full of just nice humans that want the best for each other all while having a good time.
